
Xi'an, China - April 20 - The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) celebrated the 8th anniversary of its Alumni Association with a high-profile Academic Development Symposium today. The event gathered over 100 distinguished alumni, industry leaders, and academic representatives to discuss cutting-edge advancements in materials science and strengthen collaborative ties. The Symposium was chaired by Ms. Gao Hong, Party Secretary of the MSE/XJTU.

Strengthening Materials Innovation
XJTU Vice President, Prof. Shan Zhiwei opened the symposium by highlighting MSE's pivotal role in addressing China's strategic needs in metallic materials research. "Our focus on deformation, phase transformation, and strengthening technologies aligns with national development priorities," Prof. Shan stated, calling for deeper alumni engagement in research collaboration and technology transfer.

MSE Dean, Prof. Ding Xiangdong reported significant progress in talent cultivation and scientific innovation, announcing ambitious plans to establish world-class research platforms and attract top global talent. "With our alumni network's support, we aim to accelerate breakthroughs in advanced materials," Prof. Ding emphasized.

Major Industry Partnerships Launched
The symposium witnessed the signing of five strategic cooperation agreements with leading enterprises including Shaanxi Sirui Advanced Materials, Xi'an XICE Testing Technology, Kaifu Green Energy (Xi'an) Optoelectronics and Shaanxi Guoke Magnesium Industry Technology. These partnerships will enhance industry-academic collaboration in key materials science applications.

New Alumni Leadership Takes Charge
A highlight of the event was the official transition of the MSE Alumni Association leadership. The newly elected president, Mr. Wei Changqing, pledged to "build stronger bridges between alumni and our alma mater" while supporting XJTU's development goals.
