Recently, Professor Evan Ma in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, received an official notification from the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc), informing him of his election as a Non-EU Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences.

As one of the leading scientists at the forefront of metastable materials research, Prof. En Ma has conducted pioneering research that elucidates the atomic-scale structures of non-equilibrium materials, such as amorphous alloys and phase-change memory alloys. His work has also revealed the relationship between the microstructure and properties of complex alloys, including metallic glasses, nanocrystalline materials, and multi-principal-element alloys. Building on these findings, he has developed several novel alloys exhibiting exceptional properties. Prof. Ma has authored 420 publications, which have been cited approximately 66,000 times (Google Scholar, h-index 129) thus far, with more than 30 papers appearing in Nature, Science, and Nature Materials.

Before receiving this honor, Dr. Evan Ma has also been elected as a Fellow of four major international professional societies: ASM International, APS, MRS, and TMS. Prof. Evan Ma is deeply honored to have been nominated and selected  by the esteemed EurASc academicians, emphasizing that this recognition reflects the high regard his European peers have for his scholarly contributions over the past three decades. He also thanked his students, collaborators, and, in particular, Xi'an Jiaotong University for providing the platform and support for his research.

The European Academy of Sciences (EurASc), headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization comprising distinguished scholars from various fields, including science, technology, engineering, humanities, and social sciences. Candidates are nominated by EU national academies or current EurASc members and awarded the title of Member/Fellow after a rigorous election process.
