The School of Materials Science and Engineering at XJTU has launched an international program with all courses taught in English and will begin accepting international undergraduate students starting in September 2025.

Based on the strength of the Metallurgy Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering disciplines, the university offers an English-taught international undergraduate program in Materials Science and Engineering, aiming to cultivate professional, innovative, and top technological talents and future scientists who possess capabilities of systematical thinking and cross-disciplinary integration. They will be adaptable to the emerging landscape of Intelligent Metallurgy Engineering.

About the program

1.  Objectives

In alignment with the global socio-economic demands for highly skilled professionals in innovative material design and intelligent manufacturing, this program is designed to nurture individuals with innovative thinking, teamwork abilities, lifelong learning skills, and the capacity to tackle complex engineering challenges. Graduates will be well-prepared to contribute to scientific research, technology and equipment innovation, management, and operational roles in materials and related fields.

2. Highlights

All classes will be taught in English.

The length of program is 4 years (2 semesters per year):

· 1^st year, focusing on liberal and foundational knowledge courses.

· 2^nd year mainly for basic subject courses.

· 3^rd year on specialized core courses along with practical training.

· 4^th year primarily for graduation project (Capstone Design).

4. Tuition fees and scholarships

The annual tuition fee is 180,000 RMB. All applicants are eligible to apply for scholarships, which are categorized into four levels:

· Level 1: 100% tuition waiver

· Level 2: 75% tuition waiver

· Level 3: 50% tuition waiver

· Level 4: 25% tuition waiver

Scholarships will be awarded based on applicants' application materials, academic performance in high school, and interview results.

1. Eligibility

1) 18-25 years of age & with good health, holding a valid foreign ordinary passport;

2) High school / senior secondary or advanced diploma (Applicants who are still in the last year of high school can provide the expected graduation certificate for applying while the official diploma must be provided before Sep 1st, 2025 upon enrollment);

3) Language skills: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 or Duolingo English Test 110 (or above), or other equivalent English proficiency certificates recognized by our university are accepted. Native speakers of English can be exempted from the corresponding language proficiency certificate after being recognized by our university.
