Title: Strength, ductility, fracture toughness, and fatigue resistance of additively manufactured alloys

Biography: After obtaining a PhD degree from Brown University, USA and post-doctoral stints at UCSB and MIT, Ramamurty held faculty positions at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, before returning to NTU in 2018 where he currently holds a President's Chair Professor position. His research interests include deformation and fracture behavior of amorphous as well as crystalline alloys, additive manufacturing, and the development and application of the nanoindentation technique. He is an editor of Acta Materialia and Scripta Materialia, and an Academician of both the National Academies of Engineering and Sciences of India, and TWAS-The World Academy of Sciences.

Title: Thermal Expansion and Conduction in Inorganic Materials: An Introductory Perspective

Biography: Hu Lei, who has studied at Northwestern University (USA), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan), and previously served as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow in Japan, is currently affiliated with XJTU. His research focuses on addressing thermal expansion and thermal conduction challenges in the semiconductor and integrated circuit fields. He develops novel electronic packaging materials based on high-thermal-conductivity and negative-thermal-expansion materials. His primary research areas include electronic packaging materials and synchrotron radiation X-ray structural analysis.

Title: Phase-change materials for memory and computing: XJTU solutions to speed and drift challenges

Biography: Prof. Evan Ma is a foreign member of the European Academy of Sciences, an internationally renowned academic leader in the field of materials science, and recognized as one of the world’s top 100 materials scientists. He has been elected Fellow of four major professional societies: the Materials Research Society (MRS), ASM International (The Materials Information Society), the American Physical Society (APS), and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).
Prof. Ma has made a series of pioneering contributions to understanding the microstructures and properties of metallic glasses, nanostructured alloys, and high-entropy alloys. He has published over 400 academic papers, including 30 articles in top journals such as Science, Nature, Nature Materials, Nature Electronics, and Nature Reviews Materials. His publications have been cited 61,963 times (according to Google Scholar), with the most cited single paper receiving 3,835 citations. His h-index is 126.
He was listed as a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher from 2002 to 2012 and again from 2014 to 2016, and as an Elsevier Highly Cited Researcher in both 2022 and 2023.

Biography: Dr. R. Lakshmi Narayan completed his B. Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Science Engineering at the VNIT, Nagpur, in India in 2008 and received his PhD from the IISc, Bangalore in 2014. He joined Carnegie Mellon University as a Postdoctoral Fellow in April 2015. During this time (2015-2017) he was also a visiting scientist in Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. In August 2018, he received the Gopalakrishnan-NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and worked with the Singapore Centre for 3D printing (SC3DP). He joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at IIT Delhi in August 2019 at IIT Delhi as an Assistant Professor and since December 2024 he is an Associate Professor. Dr. Lakshmi Narayan's research is focused on understanding the multiscale structure-property correlations in advanced materials such as 3D printed metals and alloys, Metallic glasses and their composites, and high temperature materials.

Prof. Jingqi Zhang

Title: 3D Printing of Titanium Alloys with Ultrauniform Mechanical Properties

Biography: Dr. Jingqi Zhang is a professor in School of Materials Science and Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and is also a Distinguished Young Scholar of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Overseas). He graduated from Northeastern University (P.R. China) with BS and MS degrees in materials science and received his PhD in additive manufacturing of titanium alloys from The University of Queensland (UQ) in 2021. Afterward Jingqi continued his research as a postdoctoral fellow at UQ and joined XJTU in August 2024. His research interests rotate around additive manufacturing of metallic materials such as titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, copper alloys and refractory alloys. Over the past 5 years, Jingqi has published his work as the first author in reputable journals such as Science, Nature Communications, Scripta Materialia and Additive Manufacturing. His research has been recognized by multiple awards including 2021 Acta Student Award. Jingqi is also the youth editor of Journal of Materials Science & Technology and Advanced Powder Materials, respectively.

Prof. Matteo Seita

Title: The "Sorby Lecture": 160 years of metallography

Biography: Dr. Seita is the Granta Design Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, where he leads the Additive Microstructure Engineering Laboratory (AddME Lab). Before joining the University of Cambridge, Dr. Seita was a Nanyang Assistant Professor at NTU Singapore. During his tenure at NTU, he was awarded the prestigious NRF Fellowship-a S$3M individual grant for early-career scientists-to develop novel additive manufacturing strategies for microstructure control of metal alloys. in recognition of this work, in 2023Dr. Seita received the TMs Young Innovator in the Materials Science of Additive Manufacturing Award from the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society. He earned his Ph.D.in Materials Science from ETH Zurich in 2012and then spent three years as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT. Dr. Seita is the author of over 50 publications and the co-founder and technical lead of the venture XtaLight, which provides simpler, faster, and more affordable microstructure analysis for quality control of metal parts.

Dr. Shubo Gao

Title: Advances in Metal Additive Manufacturing

Biography: Dr Gao is a Senior Scientist from the Advanced Remanufacturing Technology Centre (ARTC) under Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. He received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. from University of Science and Technology Beijing, China, and his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He was a Research Fellow in Singapore Centre for 3D Printing at NTU. His current research focuses on the design of metal additive manufacturing process and the development of advanced structural alloys. His has published over 30 research articles in reputable international journals, including Nature Communications, Materials Today, Acta Materialia, and Advanced Materials.

Prof. Xipeng TAN

Title: Fundamentals of metal additive manufacturing microstructure engineering

Dr. Tan Xipeng is currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. He also holds the courtesy joint appointment in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. He received his PhD in materials science from the Institute of Metal Research (Shenyang IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013. After his postdoctoral training on atom probe tomography in France, he joined the Nanyang Technology University as a Senior Research Fellow working on metal additive manufacturing. Dr. Tan’s main research interest lies in microstructure design and control strategies for high-performance metal additive manufacturing. He published more than 60 peer-reviewed journal papers in metallurgy and additive manufacturing, such as Nature Communications, Acta Materialia, NPG Asia Materials, Additive Manufacturing, Scripta Materialia, etc., including 8 Highly Cited Papers in terms of Web of Science. His recent publications have received more than 8000 citations in Google Scholar. He delivered more than 10 invited talks in the international conferences and workshops in the past 5 years. He is an editorial board member of Advanced Powder Materials.
谭喜鹏博士现任新加坡国立大学机械工程系的终身教职助理教授,并兼任材料科学与工程系的荣誉联合任职。他于2013年在中国科学院金属研究所(沈阳)获得材料科学博士学位。博士后期间,他在法国从事原子探针断层扫描方面的研究。随后,他加入南洋理工大学,担任高级研究员,从事金属增材制造方向的研究。

Prof. Turab Lookman

Title: Materials Informatics: Its emergence and application to materials science

Biography: Turab Lookman obtained his B.Sc., Ph.D. degrees from Kings College, University of London, and held appointments at Western University, London, Ontario, and the University of Toronto in Canada until 1998. He was then at the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory till 2019, where he was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) in 2012 and a Laboratory Fellow in 2018. His interests and expertise lie in hard and soft condensed matter physics, materials science, applied mathematics and computational methods. His work on information directed approaches to materials discovery started in 2012 when he led an LDRD-DR funded by DOE to investigate how ML tools could be applied to accelerate materials discovery.

Prof. Yu Jun TAN

Title: Exploring Stimuli-Responsive Materials for Soft Robotics

Biography: Yu Jun TAN (National University of Singapore) is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS. She serves as a principal investigator at the NUS Centre for Additive Manufacturing (AM.NUS) and Advanced Robotics Centre (ARC). She received her Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, specializing in additive manufacturing and biomaterials. Following her doctoral studies, she pursued postdoctoral research in the fields of stretchable and self-healing electronics.
Dr. Tan has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles in journals, including Nature Materials, Nature Electronics, Nature Communications, Science Robotics, Science Advances, and Advanced Materials. Her work has not only been published but also featured on journal covers and highlighted in various news articles and documentaries.
She actively organizes symposia at international conferences, such as the Materials Research Society (MRS) and the International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT). She also contributes as a reviewer for international grant funding agencies and leading journals.
Her current research interests include stimuli-responsive materials and biomaterials, focusing on their applications in soft robotics.
