Research interests:

Dr. Kuang’s research focuses on the mechanics of plastic deformation of metals and its relationship with microstructure evolution (during thermomechanical processing) and mechanical properties (during service). His research ranges over various topics in physical metallurgy, including crystallographic texture, experimental mechanics, crystal plasticity, recrystallization, and phase transformation.

Dr. Kuang’s current work involves:
1.         Texture and microstructure control in metallic materials (Al, Mg, high entropy alloys, etc.);
2.         Grain boundary engineering in BCC metals;

3.         The deformation and recrystallization of metallic materials under external field;

4.         Crystal plasticity modeling.
